Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director of Borusan Holding

Eray Akdag is the Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director of Borusan Holding, one of the most prominent holding companies in Turkey. Leading the Ankara Branch of Borusan Holding, he’s also responsible for various aspects of government engagement strategies of Borusan Group Companies, particularly Borusan Mannesmann Pipe, Borçelik, Borusan Logistics and Borusan Port, Borusan CAT, Borusan Automotive Group that represents BMW, Mini, Jaguar and Land Rover in Turkey, Supsan, Borusan Vehicle Auction, Borusan EnBW Energy. Within this context he actively contributes advocacy efforts of various prominent business organizations such as TOBB, Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK), The Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAİK), U.S.-Turkey Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD), YASED, The American Business Forum in Turkey (AmCham Turkey/ABFT), The German Turkish Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK Turkey).

Before joining Borusan Holding, he had been the Permanent Ankara Representative of TUSIAD for more than ten years, and sustained a solid bridge between the legislative, administrative, diplomatic authorities and prominent national and multinational companies operating in Turkey for almost 16 years as a part of this organization. He also taught master’s degree classes for four years at Ankara University and TOBB ETU, contributed to various masters and PHD degree classes of California Berkeley School of Law, The George Washington University, METU, TEDU and Bilkent University.

After graduating from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University and TED Ankara College, he continued education with masters degree studies on “Labor Economics and Industrial Relations” and “European Union and International Economic Relations” at the same university. Later, he attended and completed various professional development certificate courses that include Cornell University’s Online Executive Leadership Education Program (eCornell).

With various publications in English and Turkish he also has limited Japanese and German proficiency. He is an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program of 2010, an alumnus of Young European Leaders 2004 of Japanese Government and was selected for Team Europe in 2015 by the EU Delegation in Turkey.

Volunteered in World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers initiative, TTGV and TEDxTunalı, he believes in the importance of personal contributions to society.
